The Rubettes performed at the Oldie Night event on May 27, 2006. Unfortunately and despite extensive efforts, we didn't receive a permit to take photos. Thomas Seedorf kindly provided us with a report of his experience at the event:

Actually, I intended to meet Mark at the hotel but he couldn't tell me in time where exactly they were staying. Before taking off to Trier, all he knew was that the Rubettes were playing in several German cities and that they'd be driven in a leased vehicle. Mark wrote that he'd be looking for me - and I thought: "Good luck - considering the crowd."

I decided to go directly to the Waldbühne where I discovered Mick and Mark checking out the stage. I said "hi" and they politely waved back but I got the uneasy feeling that they didn't really recognize me. When I saw them standing at the entrance for the performers, it hit me to try and catch them there. Of course, I couldn't get passed security but one of the guards was kind and called Mark over to the fence.

Mark seemed a little tired and exhausted. He told me about the fabulous gig in Kassel (Hessisch Lichtenau) in a big tent the night before. Mick and John joined us, we talked for a bit and I gave Mark a CD and DVD of my band, the "Soundshaker."

The Rubettes were on second that night. The gig was short and sweet. In general, I found the 30-minute performance of the guys straight-lined and routine-like, nothing spectacular. It was over before it began - and the guys had left the stage.
Cheers and greetings to all Rubettes fans.
Yours,
Thomas Seedorf
